Followup Letter - August 4, 1998

Re: Alleged Discrimination Against Black Ford Employees

Dear Mr. Trotman:

We are following up on the letter we sent to your attention on 15 June 1998. We hope that we are not being ignored. We have a life-long commitment to this cause. Because we do not and will not accept corporate contributions, you can believe that we will not quit until you respond to us.

Remember that our Coalition is growing nationally. In Philadelphia alone, over 1000 African-American consumers have signed petitions not to purchase Ford and Lincoln-Mercury vehicles. Based on an average vehicle price of $25,000, this amounts to lost revenue of $25,000,000. Now, let's assume that the 1000 belong to twenty different churches with 500 members each and that each church decides to boycott Ford, now we have 10,000 people not buying your product. The lost revenue is now $250,000,000. Finally, if this program is replicated in only ten major cities, the lost revenue is $2,500,000,000.

As the vernacular puts it, "money talks and the rest walks." Persistence in your corporate arrogance will be dealt with by hitting Ford in the wallet.

Sharon Williams, President
