about it

I have never been particularly interested in slavery, and didn't pay much attention to any of the figures of that portion of American History until I read Cloudsplitter by Russell Banks. A very powerful idea suggested by the book invited me to investigate the threads of American political history which were dictated by the recognition of the full human rights, civil rights and social equality of the African in America.

This section seeks to place Abolitionist strains in the context of multicultural ethics and politics. That's about as much as I can say right now, other than that I am very interested in the machinations which created the coalitions which became the Republican Party.
