Question: How do you know Sinbad is more talented than Jamie Fox? Are you saying you actually understand his ghetto English?

You know Cobb, I was just thinking about Sinbad today and wondered where he went? Is he still alive? I think he is pretty talented with a strong social consciousness, but I refuse to think that he or Bill Bellamy (of all people) are more talented than Jamie Foxx. I watched part of his special on NBC tonight. And although I don't really care for that genre of music, I must admit that (especially for a LIVE show) he kicked ass! He can sing and play the piano and make ya laugh- in my opinion he is one of the few folks in the mainstream that could have made it on Vaudville. And that is just because back then, you had to have more than just one talent to pull from! Good post, but you are wrong!!! ha ha ha ha ha ha ha;)

I taped Jamie's show and watched it after American Idol. While I do think he is talented, he's hardly the second coming of Sammy Davis Jr. For the life of me I cannot understand the frenzy generated behind that stupid email -- that I must have received no less than 100 times.

i disagree on a few of those(mekhi phifer isn't even close to jamie foxx, and i don't even want to think about vivica fox) and i wanted to point out that damon wayans in on there twice. and honestly i think jamie is on par with the better choices from the 50.

Posted by: kahlil at January 26, 2006 06:13 AM

Yeah, but can Sinbad play the piano?

Posted by: Scott Ferguson [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 26, 2006 07:06 AM

Sorry Cobb. Half that list dosen't even come close.

Jamie can act, sing and do comedy and drama at high levels.

Name one person on your list that can say the same.

Why the hate? Is the Toukie thing still bugging you?

Posted by: Lee at January 26, 2006 07:28 AM

Really, did you HAVE to start that list with Sinbad? Guy was just pure awful.

Posted by: Kirk at January 26, 2006 07:50 AM

Sinbad was not awful. He was sweaky clean too ( I thought that's what you conservatives wanted? ).

But dude is not more talented than Foxx.

Posted by: Lee at January 26, 2006 07:58 AM

Yeah I might back off Sinbad, that dude needs his mother to dress him. And I should say a couple things. 1: I'm doing this primarily related to acting talent, which is what Foxx has been doing most of his career from Booty Call to Bait and beyond. 2: I tried to avoid the obvious talents like Eddie Murphy, DL Hugeley and Delroy Lindo although I did put Sam Jackson. 3. I reserve the right to change my mind, which I am not ashamed to admit, that I have done for Anthony Anderson.

Please stop, the man has true talent, Doing things some of us only dream of. He has shown the versatility of his talent, is what has helped him reach the level of sucess he now enjoys. A over night success he is not. Truly deserving of all he has achieved, you simply can't deny. This Man will be around for a while. Keep doing your thing Mr. Foxx

I have to admit I don't get the popularity of the Wayans. None of the make me laugh.

I appreciate Jamie' acting ability, as does "Oscar" & others. He has never forgotten the people & experiences that got him where he is & continues to show his appreciation for them. This is a great testimonial for AA actors & his home town folks of Terrell applaud, pray for & wish him as much success as he is capable of attaining.

Cobb,

If you can't be a playa'I guess you gotta be a hata' right homes.

Apparently you haven't seen Ray, or Collateral.

Posted by: Aaron at January 26, 2006 02:42 PM

I think he is phenomenal especially after he played Ray. And, Martin Lawerence sucks!

Posted by: cynthia at January 26, 2006 09:50 PM

I think he is phenomenal especially after he played Ray. Martin Lawrence sucks!

Posted by: cynthia at January 26, 2006 09:52 PM

If I remember correctly, you haven't seen Ray. Right? That's not to say an Oscar a great actor makes (just ask Marisa Tomei). LOL

I'm curious about how this list was measured?

Posted by: Terrence at January 27, 2006 12:33 PM

Sinbad has been known to leave comments on blogs that mention him.

Posted by: Cal Ulmann at January 27, 2006 03:13 PM

Jamie Foxx is quite entertaining - singer, pianist, actor, comedian - he's well rounded I suppose. His portrayal of Ray Charles was phenomenal and he did an excellent job in Redemption but in regards to acting he's better than most on your first list but can't hold a candle to Laurence Fishbourne and Courtney Vance.

Dr. Dre should be moved down to the "who is he better than" list. He's an awful actor especially in Training Day.

Posted by: Darni at January 28, 2006 08:36 AM

What? No Denzel? That man can deliver a performance. "Man on Fire" is one of my favorite movies at this time. That is a powerful performance. Foxx is not in the same league, although I've seen "Ray" many times, it doesn't compare...

Posted by: Anonymous at January 28, 2006 11:37 PM

Cobb....

Now you can add acting to the list of things you have no clue about.

Damn that's a long list.

And what kind of self-respecting Black man hasn't seen Ray?
:)

Posted by: Aaron at January 29, 2006 08:39 AM

Why in the hell are these comparison being made? Did I miss something about Foxx that he should be compared with other Black actors? It doesn't make sense. We need to cherish talent and hard work among all serious Black entertainers.

Posted by: Bakari at January 29, 2006 01:37 PM

no we don't.

Posted by: Cobb [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 29, 2006 04:23 PM

This list is immediately invalidated by the fact that you have Eddie Griffith in the top. Did you see undercover brother? Jamie has got real talent. One role a lot of people might not remember is his character in Roc. He played a slow kid named George. He was hilarious. And Ray is one of the single best performances ever.

I am glad that you mentioned the multi-talented, beautiful Vanessa Williams who graces us with her work on stage, screen, and song. She's so incredibly talented!
