I watched Leahy and Hatch question Alito, then had to book. If that is his wife sitting behind him, I know they had to brief her, and I give her major props, that she kept her composure.
If brotherbrown was fielding some of the questions, with the tone that came from the questioners, sisterbrown would have been rolling her eyes, sighing, shifting in her seat; it would have been great theater.
Regarding that CAP, see this is what folks get. Alito was proud of the conservative credentials it gave him when he was trying to impress Reagan, and I thought Leahy was appropriately indignant to jam him up for that.

I remembered the CAP story, but your mention of Kennedy got me to google, which led me to a Washington Post piece written by the Senator, which I missed. Here's the url, for those who also missed it: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/01/06/AR2006010601490.html
My question is, why is there not stronger opposition to this nominee? Why is CNN hiring Bill Bennett? Where is our humanity?

I'm not getting you here -- are you saying that the CAP membership is no big deal? Because it was explicitly devoted to opposing increased numbers of minorities and women at Princeton, and Alito was putting it on his resume when he was 35. I can't see the 'I don't recall' as anything other than a lie, standing in the place of 'There's nothing acceptable I can say to defend my membership in CAP, but I don't choose to apologize for it.'

Ooops, I take it back about "Mrs. Alito." Yesterday, they got to her.
