What's Harder To Get?
Drudge and Unfogged are talking about a cat named Michael Scheuer, newly ex-CIA who is saying that OBL now has some sort of religious permission to use a nuke against the USA.
Now as much as I appreciate ex-CIA cats who lash out, which is to say a considerable amount, my first reaction is to say whatever to that. OBL is our enemy, and if we are at war with him, I'm not sure what purpose it serves to consider that he has permission. This would always be assumed anyway, wouldn't it?
What is more interesting and pressing is whether or not he has the goods. We'll keep an eye open on Scheuer.

My assumptions were the same. Reading what Scheuer said in the same article (taking it on face value that he knows what he is talking about) it would seem that OBL caught a little heat from his bros about some aspects of 9/11. Getting a religious figure to back him up for nuking us seems a logical way of covering his butt. Of course, trying to figure out what goes on in these folks heads is like trying to figure out what my dog thinks. You think you have it, but there is no way of really knowing.
I too admire the boys and girls out there spying for us, and having worked for federal LE (and actually applied once to the CIA) I feel Scheuer when he talks about the bureaucratic PC crap that keeps them from doing their real job. What little there is of him in that article seems genuine. I agree with you, we need to learn more about Mr. Scheuer.

You know, I never was quite sure that they'd use a nuke, even if they had one. I was either naive, or right. In any case, now I'm scared.

I guess the followup question is whether or not OBL would bother to distinguish bombing a red state or a blue state. And if he did, what would Americans think about that?

I don't think OBL looks at the US in a voting pattern. Rather he would look at what would cause the most damage financially, politically and emotionally. What would be the point of a nuclear bomb in the desert of Utah?
