Ivan Get Your Dragunov

This is the last straw. Chechan rebels have taken schoolchildren hostage in Ossetia. It would be so hard for me not to go to the army surplus and pick up a sniper rifle if my kid was in that school.

This has got me thinking about what practical kinds of things we ought to be working on with regards to Homeland Security, which is probably a lot simpler than most experts are saying.

"shouldn't it be simpler"

Couldn't that really be a theme for almost every "war" we are in now. But its hard when war is a business or political opportunity.

War on drugs. Treatment, education, and a reasonable policy for consenting adults.

War on terror. Protect our borders, stop doing business with bad guys.

water for 5 days for everyone in the household. That's what the big deal has been in FLA since the hurricane--no water stored.

Food ditto.

Sometimes we forget the simple little things in favor of the big fancy things, to our detriment.

Oh, and carrying babies: While I loathe & despise "attachment parenting" (too MUCH equality between parent & baby) the first 12-14 months I don't know if you can "spoil" a baby by meeting its needs.
