Dave Chappelle was a guest on The Charlie Rose show tonight after Michael Ignatieff. I tuned into see the JFK School Gov't Harvard professor because i had just seen him on CSPAN in the vitriolic debate he and Christopher Hitchens had(pro) vs. Mark Danner and Robert Scheer (anti) on the Iraq War as part of the LA Times Book Festival last week. Michael Ignatieff impressed me so with his intelligence and poise that it was a pleasure to see him again so soon.
Then Dave Chappelle came on to talk with Charlie. (Rose didn't interrupt as much tonight so that was nice) how enlightening to watch and listen to this young comic whose talent, until now i have only heard about.
It so neat to find this kind of razor-sharp mind and refreshingly honest prodigy on TV. Dave's a natural. i plan to see the repeats of his show on Comedy Central.
Mr Chappelle mentioned he was mostly influenced by Richard Pryor whom i had the honor of meeting and having dinner with a few times when i lived in Los Angeles. Dave said Richard changed comedy forever.
