Nice one, as a smoker who struggles to give up this strikes too close to home!
Little wonder that the Republicans were all for isolation before WWII and would not blame you if you went that path again. I'm betting that if Kerry wins this will be the end result.
Now you know why all these bloody foreigners are so interested in your elections. An isolated US will see the return to the dark ages of wars and persecution. Rawanda is just an example of what happens when the US is "disengaged" and this horror will be visited on all who are "different", either in ethnicity or religion.

Insightful.
Psychology and psychodynamics operate just as much at the level of international politics as they do at that of individual people. Figuring out the most effective way of helping people is a tricky job at the best of times. I imagine it is very similar to parenting - how do you let people learn from their own experiences, but at the same time stop them from coming to serious or irreversible harm as they experiment? The emotional factor is all-important,
