Office #53

I just got my sample ballot in the mail the other day. Guess who's up for election as a judge? Zeke Zeidler, a good friend of mine from college.

I'm really glad to see that he has succeeded. He was president of the student body and presided over a great deal of controversy back in the days before multiculturalism. He's a fairminded guy and absolutely addicted to politics. I'd sure like to run into him some day and talk about old times.

If he's on your ballot, give him the nod. He's one of the good guys. So vote for Daniel Zeke Zeidler for Superior Court Judgeship - Office No. 53

Don't you think someone who is "absolutely addicted to politics," is someone who should NOT be a judge? Judges are supposed to be apolitical, are they not? Just a thought.

That's was a poor choice of words. What I meant to convey was that Zeke was really dedicated to the realm of politics. It didn't surprise me at all to find that he would be aiming for a judgeship. He was always a thoughtful and considerate person but he didn't shy away from the fray. He wanted to be in the middle of deciding things, and he always had long explanations about why. If there were issues that students had with the school or with each other, he would never shrug things off, in that way he was addicted to the political process. He wouldn't just say 'forget it, it's not my concern'.

I say that because of a conversation I had with him back in those days. You might recognize his rather famous last name if you grew up in LA and dressed fashionably in the 70s. So I asked him why somebody like him just didn't go into his family's successful clothing business and who cares if Joe Student's queer little organization didn't get student government funding? He said that he just couldn't let that kind of thing go -he wanted to see people get a fair shake.

Zeke was adept at balancing. He didn't go for revenge in politics. I always admired that. I, on the other hand, didn't have the stomach for it. I was part of the Student finance committee, an appointed position. So I purposefully avoided electoral politics so I wouldn't have to take a lot of crap but I could still be influential. Zeke could take the heat.

Zeke Zeidler is a judge who has denied a single woman the custody of her only child and son because he perceives her as having a mild mental illness.

he has taken away an innocent mother and child from each other and denied civil rights.
