Is this a parody or is it not? I'm afraid it's not. I don't hate GWBush, but I think he has ruined Colin Powell.
US Secretary of State Colin Powell has named James Brown, the so-called "Godfather of Soul", to a new and unusual, but apparently fictitious, senior diplomatic position.Spokesman Richard Boucher confirmed that Mr Powell had indeed appointed Mr Brown to be the first US "secretary of soul and foreign minister of funk" but said the job description for the post had not yet been drawn up.
What a shame.

Just curious. Exactly what is it about this that you consider a shame? That the US has such a position or that it was James Brown who was selected for it? Assuming that it's not a paid position, I don't think it's such a bad idea. Might remind some folks of the better side of America. But I think Ray Charles or Stevie Wonder would be much better choices, especially Ray.

Hmmm...Secretary of Soul? Well, I could see that, but come on, Foreign Minister of Funk would just *have* to go to George Clinton! (or maybe his recent bust disqualified him?!)
