THE VALUE OF "OFFENSIVE WORDS"
Gadzooks! What are we coming to? Soooooooooo much for free speech. Soon comes the day when words will have different fines, like tickets from the police, according to their negative value.
A parking meter-type word will be $25.00, a red zone word will cost $50.00, a speeding-type word will be $150.00, and the equivalent of a DUI-word, first offense, will cause the offender to be fired on the spot. If he or she uses it at their next place of employment (oh yes, there will be a Central Word Registry as well), the penalty is having your tongue cut out. Nothing less will do. So goes the great witch hunt.
Leapin' Lizards, Sandy, isn't this fun?

So, what is your take on this? It seems to me that the "offender" was making an anti-racist comment, rather than a racist one. Why is Redskins OK, and the -erm- "N" word not? Your post just gave the facts but not an interpretation or analysis of the event, or of its newsworthiness or lack thereof. (I am really disappointed at Bond! Dismissable offence! And to think he used to be a radical poet . . .)
